To achieve this effect, the selection of wood is critical for both beauty of the grain and the ability of the wood to take a color. If you put translucent green over brown wood, the result is disappointing at best. The dense reflective character of ash when combined with the solid spruce top provide a beautiful warmth with power, clarity, and definition.
